Israeli Capital Gains Tax Calculator
How much tax will you pay when selling securities? This calculator computes Israeli real capital gains tax (25%/30%) including CPI adjustment of the cost basis, fees, and the ₪240k threshold.
After the math — what do you buy?
FixYourFI computes the foundation. Tickerio screens stocks, analyzes filings, and scores GEMS — the tool for picking the actual securities.
How Israeli capital gains tax works
The tax applies to the real gain — nominal gain minus the CPI adjustment of your cost basis. You are protected from paying tax on a "gain" that is only inflation. Only the return above inflation is taxed.
The rates
- 25% on real gains up to ₪240,000 per year
- 30% on the excess above the threshold
- Israeli-source dividends — 25% withheld at source
- US dividends — 15% at source (treaty) via an Irish fund, 30% directly
What is exempt
Keren Hishtalmut — always fully exempt. Gemel Lehashkaa after 15 years — fully exempt. Pension funds — tax-free growth, annuity taxed at retirement. Hence the correct contribution order: Hishtalmut → Gemel → brokerage account.
- Israeli Tax Authority — real capital gains tax (25%/30%, ₪240k threshold)
- Bank of Israel — Prime rate
- Israeli Capital Markets Authority — mutual fund oversight
